Typically these studies involve ambulatory clinical problems and our excellent reputation in the locality coupled with referral by "word of mouth" allows for faster communication and rapid recruitment of large numbers of volunteers. Where simpler recruitment methods are inappropriate, we have successfully collaborated with local hospital consultants or general practitioners.
Typical studies have involved 30 to 300 patients and we have particular expertise with consumer healthcare products although we also regularly perform out-patient studies with ethical pharmaceuticals.
Conditions that have been studied in recent years include simple coughs and colds, soft-tissue (sports) injuries, osteoarthritis of the knee, mild-to-moderate asthma, hemorrhoids, nappy rash, dandruff (pityriasis capitis), head lice, smoking cessation, obesity and overactive bladder. |
